Caroline White is an unusual vicar’s wife. Married to Canon Andrew White, usually known in the media as the Vicar of Baghdad, she has never met the Iraqi congregation. Here she writes with honesty and humour about how she manages the constant challenges they face as a family

 

When I married Andrew back in 1992 it is accurate to say that I had absolutely no idea what lay in store for us. Certainly, had I known – or even have had an inkling – then the answer to the question, ‘Do you take this man..?’ would have been, ‘no, I don’t’ rather than, ‘I do’. But then again, no one knows what lies in store and most of us tread paths we wouldn’t have chosen.
